Goals and Activities of the ECHS PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association)
- Promote frequent and meaningful communication between the school, parents, and the community through the ECHS e-tree (googlegroups/echsnews), periodic newsletters, the ECHS website www.elcerritogauchos.net (the PTSA provides a stipend for the website manager to update content), at monthly PTSA meetings, and by creation of special task forces and working groups.
- Show support for ECHS teachers and staff by providing snacks at monthly staff meetings and classroom supplies at the beginning of semesters.
- Make it easy for parents to donate classroom supplies through special PTSA programs like the PTSA Classroom Supply Order Program program, coordination with the ECHS Wishlist and Student Activities Fund (SAF), and providing general guidance about how to donate to support school programs and equipment needs.
- Coordinate and recruit parent and community helpers when needed for school events and mailings
- Provide hospitality support for school-sponsored events
- Support ECHS parents through parent education programs and by answering questions about ECHS from a parent perspective
- Support the ECHS Safety Committee in promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment
- Participate in school emergency preparedness planning, including purchasing earthquake supplies for all classrooms and school administration.
- Participate in campus beautification efforts
- Promote programs to improve academic excellence at ECHS (e.g., Writer Coach Connection)
- Work with Bayside PTSA and California PTA programs to improve the schools (a portion of the ECHS PTSA dues goes to these organizations)
